#21 "... Joseph Smith Jr. will again be on this earth dictating plans and calling forth his brethren...."

Although many Latter day Saints are unfamiliar with the doctrine that Joseph Smith will be returning to the earth to usher in the Marvelous Work and the Dispensation of the Fulness of Times, it was once commonly understood and taught in the Church many years ago.

Here is what Brigham Young had to say about it:

"I will now tell you something that ought to comfort every man and woman on the face of the earth.

Joseph Smith, junior, will again be on this earth dictating plans and calling forth his brethren to be baptized for the very characters who wish this was not so, in order to bring them into a kingdom to enjoy, perhaps, the presence of angels or the spirits of good men, if they cannot endure the presence of the Father and the Son;

and he will never cease his operations, under the directions of the Son of God, until the last ones of the children of men are saved that can be, from Adam till now..."
(Teachings of Brigham Young)

Apostle Orson Pratt mentioned that the dispensation of the fulness of times was the dispensation of the resurrection and that God would be bring some forth out of their graves to bring to pass certain transactions.

It was this very doctrine that inspired part of the song "Praise to the Man".

"millions shall know brother Joseph again..."

Sorry, but I don't trust a single word out of Brigham's mouth, especially regarding Joseph Smith.

Brigham Young may have been a hard nut, but it is my belief that he was STILL guided by God. God covered his eyes... a lot. But that doesn't mean everything he said is false.

If the Holy Spirit has told you not to trust a single word that has come out of Brigham Young's mouth, then follow that advice.

However, the Spirit has told me that you can truth from just about anywhere if you are searching for it - even a man with strong opinions such as Brigham Young.

AND the Holy Spirit has specifically told me that many of his discourses are to be had for both profit and learning... whatever that means in exactness, I am not sure.

Love this blog FYI, I have come to a surprising amount of the same conclusions that you have on my own. Especially considering that the Restoration would be forthcoming, as a future event. I saw your comment and thought, "That's MY truth!" Hahaha

I am not entirely convinced thus far by every detail, but the general picture is confirmed to me by the Spirit.

My only question, and one that I have had in my head for quite a while now (a while back I figured out that the LDS Church was in a 'type' of apostasy... however, now I believe a God-led apostasy as strange as that may sound) is where exactly does the Temple fit in all this?

I assume that baptisms for the dead is still fine. Much of the endowment ceremony would probably be thrown out, not all of it from my research though. I assume sealings should still be valid, but I would love to have your opinion, specific as to what is valid that is currently done in the Temple's.

I agree with you that Brigham Young has some truth in the things that he said.

Regarding my views on the temple, they will emerge as you continue reading this blog and it's sister blog.
